When You Need Veneers in Salt Lake City, UT
Porcelain veneers from Dr. Gleave are a fast and effective cosmetic dentistry solution for correcting common appearance issues without orthodontics. They can make dramatic improvements by concealing:
It’s easy to think that porcelain veneers are simply there to improve the appearance of our teeth, a simple face-lift for our teeth. While porcelain veneers can definitely makeover our smiles, that’s not all they do. Veneers can also provide other health benefits worth considering when deciding whether veneers are right for you or not.
Here’s a list of some good reasons to get porcelain veneers.
Veneers Change Lives
Dental Veneers can improve the quality of your life in many ways. First, veneers can take years off of your appearance. As you age, your teeth will inevitably show it. They may become weak, they may shift, and they may become discolored. Second, they can correct all sorts of minor problems like chipped, cracked, or misshapen teeth, so in the end, you have a more symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing smile. All of these improvements mean a huge boost to your self-confidence. You won’t just look like a million bucks, but you’ll feel like it, too!
Veneers Hide Teeth Stains and Discloration
Teeth whitening is normally how you would attack dental stains, but some staining is resistant to even professional levels of dental whitening. This deep staining is often caused by disease or medications to treat diseases. Dental veneers are able to hide these stains and give you a brilliantly whiter smile.
Veneers Cover Chipped Teeth
Dental bonding is sometimes used, but it may chip away easily and has to be reapplied. Dental veneers will stand up to the biting forces in your mouth. In other words, you would have to really work at damaging your veneers while you are eating. They are considered a permanent restoration.
Veneers Repair Cracked Teeth
This is one area that shows that dental veneers are not just a cosmetic dentistry fix. A cracked tooth damages your appearance, but it also leaves your tooth open to the danger of cracking further and breaking. This can kill your tooth, as it may damage the nerve and need to be removed. A dental veneer will bond to the front of your damaged tooth and do two things. The first is that it will cover the crack and restore your tooth’s appearance. The second is that the veneer will support the tooth and prevent it from cracking further. This will keep you out of harm’s way when it comes to possibly breaking your tooth.
Veneers Fix Misshapen and Crooked Teeth
Your teeth should be a certain shape when they come in, but for some reason, sometimes they aren’t. Orthodontics can fix misaligned teeth, but they can’t do anything for teeth that aren’t correctly shaped. Dental veneers are able to hide misshapen teeth and give you the appearance of a great smile. A veneer can be made to fit over the surface of the misshapen tooth and hide the imperfection.
Veneers Fill Tooth Gaps
Why shift your entire smile around with orthodontics just to close a small gap between two healthy teeth? Dental veneers can do the same job and not disturb your other teeth in the process. By placing dental veneers on the teeth on either side of the gap, you can correct the gap issue and get back to having a great smile in no time.

What are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are like fingernails for your teeth in that they are thin coverings bonded to the front of teeth. Dental veneers are often made out porcelain and are very thin.
The dental veneer process starts with a visit to see Dr. Gleave at his Salt Lake City office. Once there, you and he will go over how dental veneers can help your smile.
If you decide veneers are for you, you will first have your tooth or teeth (depending on how many veneers you need) prepared. This involves removing a thin layer of dental enamel to accommodate the placement of the veneers. This way, they will not stick out from your smile after placement. The enamel removal also prepares the surface to accept the bonding agent that we use.
From there, you will have dental impressions taken. These impressions are used to make your custom dental veneers. These custom veneers will match your teeth to a T and look wonderful in your smile. You will come back in several weeks to have the veneers applied once they are finished.
Choose From Multiple Veneer Options
Veneers are ultra-thin shells of porcelain or other material that fit over the front surfaces of teeth. Each one is created separately and bonded into place over the natural tooth to create the ideal fit and look. The porcelain, once bonded to the tooth, is extremely durable and has a color, translucency, and texture similar to natural tooth enamel.
Dr. Gleave offers a variety of dental veneer options to transform your smile. They include:
- Traditional porcelain veneers, which are super strong and can be customized to match the shade you want
- Composite veneers, which can also be customized to appear as bright as you like
- Prepless veneers, which require no preparation of your teeth before being applied
- Lumineers, which are strong yet incredibly thin for a natural look and require minimal to no preparation
The entire dental veneer procedure is relatively quick depending on your mouth’s condition. In some cases, our patients can walk out with their new smile after one visit!
Be Completely Happy With Your Porcelain Veneers
Dr. Gleave will take lots of digital photos of your teeth, lip position, gum height, and effect of your opposing teeth and bite. He’ll then take no-fuss impressions of your teeth to better understand their size, position, and bite. Afterward, he’ll discuss with you how many teeth will need veneers.
Here comes the fun part: you consult our smile catalog to pick out the shape, size, and desired color for your veneers! It’s totally up to you, but Dr. Gleave will offer his expert opinion to ensure you get the best veneers for your desired results.
We make provisional veneers for you to wear as a “trial smile” to evaluate the look and feel of your new smile. Any changes to tooth position, shape, or color will be communicated to the ceramist who makes your final veneers. When your veneers are ready, we will preview them. If everything looks perfect, Dr. Gleave securely bonds them to your teeth.
