What To Expect After Tooth Removal

David testimonial

We’ll give you detailed instructions on how to care for yourself and encourage healing after your procedure. We may also provide you with medication to ease any discomfort. In general, you’ll want to take it easy for a few days. It’s a good idea to rest with your head raised and eat soft foods at first. Don’t use a straw!

You can also:

  • Apply a cold pack to your face to relieve pain and minimize swelling
  • Bite down on clean gauze until bleeding stops, to encourage clotting
  • Skip brushing for a day, then be careful when cleaning teeth near the extraction site

Improve Oral Health By Removing A Tooth

We may need to remove a tooth due to:

  • Damage from decay. A decaying tooth that can’t be helped with a filling or dental crown should be removed to prevent further dental issues and relieve your pain.
  • Damage from gum disease. Gum disease is the number one reason adults in the U.S. lose permanent teeth. After treating the underlying issue, we can remove damaged teeth and provide reliable replacements.
  • Impacted wisdom teeth. Impacted teeth can’t successfully emerge through your gums, a common problem with wisdom teeth. Removing them will benefit your smile. Left alone, they can cause alignment issues and severe discomfort.

Call Rod Gleave, DMD at (801) 262-0744 to see if you need a tooth extraction or removal.
